A Christmas Carol at Valdosta State University (VSU) 

Valdosta State University’s production of A Christmas Carol reimagines Charles Dickens’ classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation. With a talented cast of VSU Theatre & Dance faculty, students and local children, this adaptation captures the timeless themes of holiday spirit and redemption.  Don’t miss the chance to witness this exceptional performance, which has become a cherished Valdosta tradition. The show runs from December 4-8, 2024, with proceeds supporting the Golden Circle Scholarship and Support Fund.

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

Nothing says the holidays are here like the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in Downtown Valdosta. The event draws residents and visitors alike to gather beneath the classic holiday tree, watching as the tree is illuminated in the night. In addition to the lighting itself, enjoy free hot cocoa, adult egg nog and lots of holiday photo opportunities. This community event provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate and connect with neighbors while celebrating the start of the holiday season. The event will take place on Friday, December 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Unity Park Amphitheatre.  

Valdosta Christmas Parade

The Valdosta Christmas Parade is one of the region’s most anticipated events. With elaborately decorated floats, live performers and decorations, the parade exudes holiday cheer with an exciting theme of ‘A Georgia Christmas.’ Santa Claus always makes a grand appearance, spreading smiles and excitement to those both young and old. Arrive early to grab a good spot along the route and be sure to bring a blanket to stay warm. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 6 to 9 p.m. 

Hahira Christmas Parade 

For those looking for another holiday parade, Hahira’s Merry Main Street Christmas Parade offers a warm experience. This beloved small-town celebration displays beautifully adorned floats and a friendly community atmosphere, along with a holiday market. Whether you are catching candy tossed from the floats or waving to Santa as he passes by, this parade embodies the charm of South Georgia during the holidays. The festival begins in Downtown Hahira on December 14 at 10 a.m., with the parade concluding the night at 6 p.m.  

Fa La La Ladies’ Night Out 

Looking for a festive way to shop and socialize? Fa La La Ladies’ Night Out is the perfect event to gather your friends and explore Downtown Valdosta’s local boutiques and shops. Grab your girls and visit participating stores that offer exclusive discounts, giveaways and holiday treats, all while highlighting beautifully decorated storefronts. Many shops also host special activities, from holiday-themed workshops to live music. This event is a wonderful way to support local businesses while crossing gifts off your holiday shopping list. Mark your calendars for December 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. 

Camp Rock Lights

Immerse yourself in the beauty of the holiday season with the Christmas Lights at Camp Rock. This spectacular light display features thousands of lights synchronized to classic holiday tunes, creating a magical experience for visitors of all ages. Drive through the different scenes in the comfort of your vehicle or take a leisurely stroll to fully enjoy the displays and festive atmosphere. Not only can you enjoy the lights, Camp Rock also has petting zoos, photos with Santa, roller skating and much more for the whole family to enjoy. The event runs December 6-8 and December 13-24 from 6 to 10 p.m. As Camp Rock’s largest fundraiser of the year, $10 tickets are available for purchase at the gate.

Wild & Bright Holiday Festival

Wild Adventures Theme Park truly comes alive during the holidays with its Wild Adventures Christmas Wild & Bright. From millions of twinkling lights to festive live performances, the park transforms into a winter wonderland where guests can immerse themselves in holiday magic.

The event includes an all-you-can-eat breakfast and a photo with the big man himself. After brunch, the family can enjoy the thrilling experience of the theme park, including the Carol of the Animals Lake Show and immersive encounters and rides. Christmas Tree Village for a Cause

This year, Wild Adventures has teamed up with the Greater Valdosta United Way to introduce an inspiring new twist to its annual Christmas Tree Village. The village features holiday trees designed by local nonprofit organizations, each reflecting their unique missions. Guests can vote for their favorite tree by donating via QR code, with all proceeds benefiting United Way’s Impact Partners. Additionally, Wild Adventures is offering an online roundup option, allowing guests to round up their purchases and contribute directly to this meaningful cause. By participating in this initiative, you can enjoy the festive atmosphere while making a difference in the local community.
