In the heart of Valdosta is our charming downtown, also known as the City Center Arts District, where creative spirit and artisan vibes come to life through traditional art, theatre, entertainment and more. Upon first sight, you'll notice the picturesque historical architecture on every corner proving a long, unwavering history of commitment to culture and creativity. Buildings that were erected during Valdosta's post-Civil War economic boom through the turn of the 20th Century have been lovingly preserved and restored, providing downtown an artful foundation and streetscape.

Turner Center for
the Arts
Our crown jewel in Valdosta, the Turner Center for the Arts, is the jewel of the community arts scene with six galleries showing permanent and rotating exhibitions, as well as concerts and other live performances. They also offer classes and workshops, including painting, pottery, photography, videography and culinary lessons.
Dosta Playhouse
Downtown on Ashley Street you'll discover one of Valdosta's theatrical gems, the Dosta Playhouse. This Moderne-style landmark has been restored to its 1914 splendor and serves as an inspirational playhouse and home of Theatre Guild Valdosta. University
Just north of downtown arts scene you'll discover more of the city's creative spirit at Valdosta State University. The Dedo Maranville Fine Arts Gallery and Valdosta Symphony Orchestra pack the calendar with art exhibits and concerts from autumn through spring. Then, in the summer is their much-anticipated Peach State Summer Theatre, a professional stock theatre that produces three musicals each summer.
Unity Park
A gathering place for locals and visitors, Unity Park is an outdoor amphitheater that hosts special events including concerts, movie nights and food truck events. While it's new to the downtown area, they already have a great lineup of events. Be sure to check out their concert schedule and then grab a chair and get comfortable on the lawn while listening to local and regional artists across all music genres.
The Brush Up
Get your daily dose of arts and crafts at The Brush Up. Painting classes are offered daily for adults, children and families with step-by-step instruction from a trained art instructor. During a two-hour sitting, you and your family can create your very own masterpiece of choice. It's also the perfect location for intimate events including birthday parties, bridal showers and corporate team building.
Studio Imagination
Let your imagination run wild at Studio Imagination. Touted as fun art, not fine art, this is the perfect spot for beginning artists or those who prefer to color outside the lines. Paint your own pottery or figurine or learn how to paint your own canvas. Whatever you decide, don't hold back. Different Strokes Paint & Art Studio
Sip and paint with other locals and visitors at Different Strokes Paint & Art Studio. Adults can enjoy a glass of wine while they get their creative juices flowing and kids can partake in themed classes ranging from Under the Sea to Superheroes.
