The primary purpose of the Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center & Tourism Authority is to increase the economic strength of Lowndes County and Valdosta by promoting the area as a tourism destination.
The Valdosta-Lowndes County Conference Center & Tourism Authority is led by eight board members with four appointed by the City of Valdosta and four appointed by Lowndes County. One City appointee must be a City Council member and one County appointee must be a County Commissioner. Also, one City appointee and one County appointee shall be associated with or employed in the lodging and tourism industry. The remaining two City and County appointees are at-large positions. Members serve a three-year term. These members are responsible for hiring the CEO, who manages day-to-day operations on their behalf. See our current staff here.
The VLCCCTA board of directors meets at the Rainwater Conference Center on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 8 a.m. Dates are tentative. Please call 229.245.0513 to confirm meeting date and time in advance.
