Valdosta-Lowndes Azalea Festival

Held in March, this colorful weekender celebrates South Georgia's best bloomers with the area’s best food, music and crafts. Not only are there jaw-dropping sights such as a lumberjack show and raptor demonstrations, attendees also enjoy the lineup of live music, a car show, and nearly 200 vendors that sell handmade crafts. South Georgia Film Festival

For three days each spring, Valdosta State University hosts a film festival to honor the area’s film industry. The festival is held in March on the VSU campus and features films created by student and amateur filmmakers from all over South Georgia. If you're a film fan and want to support new artists, add this popular festival to your travel plans.

Wild Adventures Summer Concert Series

Wild Adventures Theme Park offers more than great rides and animal encounters. The park also hosts concerts during the summer months. Country crooners, rock legends and pop stars take the stage as night falls. Pro tip: get take-out from Lonestar BBQ right next to the open-air arena for a night of great music and ribs.

Wild Adventures Kid-o-Ween

In September and October, enjoy the cool weather and celebrate the changing season. At Kid-o-Ween, a tame daytime event for families with younger kiddos, the park adds a pumpkin patch, costume contests and mazes to the lineup of family activities. The kids will think every Halloween should be this grand.

Terror in the Wild

For older kids (13+) who like the bejeezus scared out of them, Wild Adventures Theme Park hosts this Halloween event on weekends in September and October. After the sun goes down, thrill-seekers enjoy haunted rides and attractions all night long.

Honey Bee Festival

Just a short drive away in Hahira, the week-long Honey Bee Festival showcases community pride each October. This arts and entertainment event is perfect for the whole family. Let the kids loose in the Kids Zone, check out arts and crafts vendors, watch live entertainment and get Insta-worthy pictures with the giant bumblebee.

12 Days of Christmas: Valdosta, Georgia

Can downtown Valdosta get any more charming? Visit during 12 Days of Christmas (which actually runs throughout November and December) and see for yourself. When the sun goes down and the holiday lights come on, you won’t be the only one to burst into Christmas carols. At the holiday market, find a mix of handmade decorations, festive edibles and gotta-have-its. At themed happy hours, warm up with some spiked cider.

Merry Marketplace

Just try to resist the holiday spirit at this two-day festival held the weekend before Thanksgiving. Get a jumpstart on holiday shopping as 100 artisans bring their festive creations to the Rainwater Conference Center. Visitors also meet Santa and get epic holiday photos during the Saturday “character breakfast,” which has included the likes of Spiderman and assorted Frozen faves.
