The McKey Hotel

The McKey gave a new life to the iconic building in May 2023 as a one-of-a-kind boutique hotel in Valdosta, Georgia. Looking for your next weekend getaway or the perfect event space? The McKey building was originally constructed in 1906 and previously functioned as both a church and office building. Now, The McKey is giving this space a new life as the first boutique hotel in Valdosta. The hotel has 12 spacious rooms, all including a king size bed. Seven of these beautiful rooms are short-term layouts with living rooms and kitchenettes for guests. Every guest room is named after a historic event, person or landmark from Valdosta, bringing the history of the city into every room. Some of the names include:

• Converse & Co. – Named after the clothing company run by Albert Converse, which was the first business in The McKey building. He lived there until the early 2000s.

• Ornament – Named after the Valdosta City Hall building, which is known as “the ornament of the city.” The name represents the evolution of the city.

• No. 15 – Named after the train route that ran from the Atlantic to the Gulf, stop number 15 was located in Valdosta.

The McKey also brings guests a feeling of modern luxury during their stay. The hotel rooms have a modern finish, while keeping the original historical structure. The large windows boast a ton of natural light in every room. Even with the modern interior, the hotel nods to its iconic past with decorations unique to each room’s name. 

The hotel also includes a 2,000-square-foot event space that can hold up to 150 people, making it perfect for all events ranging from corporate meetings to wedding receptions. The space includes floor to ceiling windows and the building’s original columns, giving the space a unique feel. The natural light, exposed brick and views of Downtown Valdosta make for an unforgettable space for any event.
