Visit Valdosta President/CEO on Why Tourism Supports Us All

By: David DiSalvo, President/CEO of Visit Valdosta

Did you know that in 2022, tourism was the fifth largest economic contributor with visitors spending $387.8 million in Lowndes County? In the same year, tourism also directly sustained 7.4% of jobs in the area. Tourism encourages new businesses and destinations to open, which not only support guests, but also make our own backyard a greater place to live. It clearly supports jobs, benefits the local economy, leads to investments in infrastructure and more. When we keep this data in mind, local leaders and business owners can see the opportunities for growth by embracing the benefits of sharing our city with visitors.

With your help, we can close out a fantastic 2023. We’ll be sure to share 2023 tourism data with you when it becomes available, but thinking of how you can help in the meantime?
